Casa dos Coimbras is located in Largo de Santa Cruz, in the parish of São João do Souto, municipality of Braga, city of Braga, northern Portugal.
Construction of the Casa dos Coimbras
The Coimbras palace built in the 16th century as a residence for clergy was acquired by D. João de Coimbra, provisor of the Mitra of Braga.

The Coimbras house has the windows and some of the doors of the old mansion, although the shape of the Manueline building has been changed.
Renovation of Casa dos Coimbras
In 1906, the Coimbras mansion was demolished due to the urban reformulation of that area and Largo São João do Souto was created.
But the Manueline architectural elements were preserved and, in 1924, the building was rebuilt on the opposite side of the street in continuity with the chapel.
For many years he lived in the house of Dr. Eugénio Bacelar Ferreira and his family, a traditional family made up of 15 children. Dr Eugénio Bacelar Ferreira became Secretary of the Civil Government of Braga.
